A couple of questions from far away

Hi all,

I just had a couple of questions for you guys since I'll be coming to the southern Africa area in June and July. I know this time is during winter over there, but compared to my locale in the US where winter is quite cold and you'll have a very hard time finding any herps your winter seems comparatively mild and some herps may be about.

Am I right in this assumption, or will I have a hard time finding herps this time of year? I'll be spending about a month in the bushveld of Botswana for a summer course and was hoping to get to see at least some good looking species.

Additionally, I'll be spending 9 days around Cape Town and would love to spend at least one day out there searching for some herps. If anyone has any suggestions on areas or could help me out in this regard I'd greatly appreciate it.

Im sure someone would love to join you and show you around for the best spots or someone could show you there collection. Unfortunately it is a bad time of year especially in the cape as its cold and rainy in winter. Anyone willing to show off the SA herp hospitality?

Just be aware that Cape Town are very sticky when it comes to reptiles. I am sure there is a Cape Tonian who will be willing to assist you. Good luck, and bring enough warm clothes, it still gets rather chilly here in SA.
