Kicking things off with some decent rain in the Transkei (Wild Coast of South Africa) a few frog species found in an hour or so.

Amietophrynus gutturalis Guttural Toad. Umngazi, Eastern Cape.




Cacosternum nanum - Bronze Caco/ Bronze Dainty Frog. Umngazi, Eastern Cape.




Leptopelis natalensis - Forest Tree Frog. Umngazi, Eastern Cape.




Phrynobatrachus natalensis - Snoring Puddle Frog. Umngazi, Eastern Cape.




Tomopterna natalensis - Natal Sand Frog. Umngazi, Eastern Cape.







Heading up North Into Zululand (Some 250kms North of Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal)

Amblyodipsas-polylepis - Common Purple Gloss Snake. False Bay, Kwa-Zulu Natal.


The Egg eaters in this particular section grow much larger and have beautiful high contrasting colours compared to the specimens further south.
Dasypeltis scabra - Rhombic Egg Eater. Hluhluwe, Kwa-Zulu Natal.




Gonionotophis nyassae - Black File Snake. Kosi Bay, Kwa-Zulu Natal.


Hyperolius tuberilinguis - Tinker Reed Frog. St Lucia, Kwa-Zulu Natal.




Homopholis wahlbergii - Walhberg's Velvet Gecko. Hluhluwe, Kwa-Zulu Natal.




Leptopelis mossambicus - Mozambique Brown Back Tree Frog. Hluhluwe, Kwa-Zulu Natal.


Trachylepis depressa - Eastern Sand Skink. Umhlanga Rocks, Kwa-Zulu Natal.


Lycophidion capense - Cape Wolf Snake. Kosi Bay, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

That Quill snouted is just crazy looking. Really like the macro shots of them. Some very nice amphibian finds also, especially like the Forest tree frog pics. Great stuff Ping!!!
