Hi everybody,
I have 3 female Pacific or New Guinea tree boas (Candoia carinata carinata) they are such cool unique snakes, and i had a male but he died shortly after i bought him:(
I have always had a fascination with this species group and would like to further that fascination. I have only seen Pacific or New Guinea tree boa (Candoia carinata carinata) for sale at expos and once
saw a pair of Viper boas or New Guinea ground boas (Candoia aspera) but never again. I think if my memory serves me right, that bushbaby has a pair of Pacific or Solomon Islands ground boas (Candoia carinata paulsoni) that were doing well.
I would love to know if anyone in SA is breeding these species or knows if there are any floating around or just some general info would be great.
Here are the species within the Candoia group:
Pacific or New Guinea tree boa (Candoia carinata carinata)
Pacific or Solomon Islands ground boas (Candoia carinata paulsoni)
Solomon Islands tree boas (Candoia bibroni australis)
Viper boas or New Guinea ground boas (Candoia aspera)
Fiji boas (Candoia bibroni bibroni)
Halmahera ground boas (Candoia carinata sp?)
Would be very cool to have some of these guys in SA collections. They are highly variable in colour, have the ability to change colour, they have Keeled-scales much like the rough scaled python, COOL snakes.
