Finally

Donald Broadley was born in Britain in 1932 and moved to Zimbabwe in 1954. He has described just over 100 species and have had 12 named after him. The purpose of the auction is to raise funds for Donald. Bids will close on the 18th May 2008 at 9pm.

Finally

Postby Bushbaby » Tue Dec 09, 2008 12:06 pm

After several visits to different Post Offices, Banks, etc, I finally managed to pass the funds on to him.

We managed to raise R8395 in total from the goods auctioned off.

Just a message from him:

Many thanks for passing on the money raised by the Donald Broadley Auction, and to the donators of the prizes. This donation will help considerably to keep us afloat in Zimbabwe and we returned to Bulawayo today with a substantial load of groceries, etc.

Best wishes,
Donald & Shiela Broadley

That is a decent sum we raised, well done and thank you to all who donated, participated and organised.

My best wishes to Mr and Mrs Broadley.

Thats awesome, well done guys!

It wouldn't surprise me if overnight, Mugube fled Zimbabwe... the pressure he is under now by the entire world regarding the cholera epidemic, the threat of anthrax and the state of the economy must be immense! The currency over in Zim halves in value every 5 minutes! In 2005 the population in zim was close to 13 million, today it is 8 million. I just don't see how things could keep plodding on.

I know what your saying Leos... but the fact of the matter is even if/when Mugabe gets forced out, how long would it take to fix the mess in Zim.... we would be talking about YEARS!!!!!! Thats the heart sore of it all! Hope things start happening soon, Not just for Donald Broadley and his family, but for every other poor soul suffering in that once beautiful country!!

haha.. but lets not hijack this good post... will leave the soap box climbing for another day!!
