Hatchling ID please.

Could somebody please give an ID on this little guy. I am getting tons of call outs for these guys in houses in my area. And I dont get many hatchlings so.... Please help. The Skaapies I get in this area look different to these guys. He about 12cm's ??

I would say it is a strangely patterned Spotted skaapie( Psammophylax rhombeatus)....maybe a bunch of hatchlings have all hatched now at the same time you are finding them all

That is a fairly commonly marked skaapsteker for some areas Drummer They seem to be far more striped than spotted in certain areas and I think the type of grass influences the pattern.

Yeah this colouration is very common in the spotted skaapstekers in mpumalanga highveld

Yeah i see lots a variability in skaapies...nicest so far in the northern cape amd Wolkburg. Rage has found skaapies that look nothing like these before tho...strange. Its quite a nice phase, BV and Pitviper...do they keep it till adulthood?

yeah normally,but they might get a bit darker with age.these are also really nice little creatures@ drummer

All the Spotted Skaapstekers I used to find in Klipriver (south of Joberg) were this phase.
No matter the size they all had these markings
