Very nice, it does look like a patternless beetzi, but yes, much stockier than the snakes i have seen. It will be interesting once the description is made to know the exact habitat it comes from. Ive have traveled this area fairly extensively and have found only beetzi. hmmm

hehe, well at this point, i hope i have only found beetzi, i would hate to know that i found one of these "new" species and didnt even bother photographing it!....but i dont think so, never found any really strange looking specimens, just plain old yellow and black beetzi. Still love em though. I'll be in that area later this year, and maybe i"ll get lucky!
Hmmm, so this topic is 9 years old, I know, but just wanted to update.
In November 201 the new species was finally described as Telescopus finkeldeyi. I have the publication in PDF so if anyone is interested, drop me a PM.
I hope to find and photograph them in the future!

Is there some way to upload the pdf on the site? Please send me a copy Westley.
I know there is a Telescopus which was found near the presidential residence in Pretoria and was undescribed. Further searches revealed nothing and the area is now an urban suburb so the species definitely does not exist. Wulf was researching it but I dont think anything ever came of it.

I remember taking this specimen to Wulf and he was excited and we photostated the belly and he took pictures but I never found out where it fell in his research. I think it might be one of the oldest photos of this new species. I know he said it was not polystictus or semiannulatus but it was quite a big specimen so who knows what it was. When it died it went and lay on the heating pad and could not be used as a specimen. Who knows there might be another species out there just waiting to be discovered.
