Red Lipped herald(extreme white)

Postby poobsta » Tue Jan 18, 2011 9:07 pm

About two days ago a friend of mine called and said there was a snake in his meter box which is where I found this chap.
I have caught many Heralds and often they have a low orange to white lip but I have never seen one as extreme as this.
Or it may be pretty common and I have just never seen one like this :-D Either way I thought I should share him with you guys and girls.
Funny enough this guy has been really chilled even when i first caught him he hardly made any song and dance at all.
He has got quite a gash on his back so once i'm sure its all healed up I'll let him be off to menace frogs again

Would that not be called a Herald snake instead of a Red lipped herald due to there bein no red lip? I heard this once before. Please correct me if im wrong:)

Ive seen heralds with red lips, orange lips, pink lips, white lips, and ive caught heralds that have plain heads the same colour as thd body, almost looked like slug eaters. There is a lot of variation... :)

In KZN often you find them with no colouring on the lip like this more so then the bright red.

Good looking snake, even though it is the same specie.
