Hi guys,
Yesterday, I was guiding two friends of mine in the park, for two night. We saw two big black mamba and few Monitor lizards. Anyway on the first day I found that very green Causus which I would say rhombeatus, it was on its back, belly toward the sky, and when I turn it I said to my friends F$£ck a bloody "Causus rhombeatus" this is the first time I find one in Akagera NP, my friend were as they obviously didnt had a clue on what I was speaking about...
Anyway I picked it up carefully behind the head it was still alive but definitely dying, mouth open full of blood etc...
I still don't know what killed it, there were lots of elephants tracks on the road but as far as I could see we were the first car passing by, that morning...
Although, the color are really making me "unsure"(sorry I cant find a proper way to turn that phrase your help would be appreciate ) it is a very very green phase and its definitely not a resimus it really look like a rhombeatus to me but is green and doesnt have that particular V shape on its head.
I put it on ice for the trip and couldnt wait to come back home and do the "research" on it with my books anyway I'm more and more convinced its a rhombeatus.
Anyway I put it in alcohol 75% and wait for your comment. If any DNA is needed let me know
Here are the pictures:
The V.scales are whitish with some black inside edge.
Please let me know what you think about it. If you need other picture let me know.
I don't have my East African reptiles book so cant do the ID keys !
Cheers
Kenny.
