Wonder if those adults where the ones i caught and sent to guys in Hillcrest somewhere? I know they wanted to breed with them - lovely to see that someone is actually getting it right!!!!

What is their venom like? An importer offered me some and want to read up on them.

The venom is not beleived to be lethal however i would never want to take a bite from these. They kill a mouse in matter of seconds. I know we are not mice but it cannot be a good idea.

Could you give some more details about the breeding ? (How many eggs, How big the eggs are, size of babies etc...).

Some additional details for anyone interested

The first clutch was 8 eggs each measuring an average of 40 x 12mm
Laid on the 3/12/2013 and hatched after 76 days incubated at 27 degrees

These Juveniles were an average of 200mm long with an average tail length of 18mm. Each snake weighed 3 grams

The second clutch was 6 eggs with roughly the same measurements as the first clutch. These were laid on the 28/01/2014 and are currently still in the incubator at 27 degrees.

I first put the adults together at the end of September after 3 months without heat and had them on and off together right through to mid November.

The second time I paired the adults was on Christmas day. I separated the adults on the 26th after only the one day together.

I agree with what BV said, I wouldn't want to take a bite from a Longicauda especially a large male. They are a decent sized elapid and I'm sure their bite wouldn't be a pleasant experience.
These snakes are on the whole fairly placid BUT have an unbelievably explosive feeding response and there is a good chance of a feeding bite if you are complacent.

That is quite an achievement and the babies look gorgeous. Would be nice if they stayed like that when adults. I would just like to mention,that having foolishly received a bite from a Elapsoidea s boulengeri ,I would be a bit cautious in handling them with bare hands.The pain,vomiting and even a bit of pins and needles in my lips was not what I expected
