Tap feeding for falsies

Postby Clive b » Thu Aug 29, 2013 8:32 pm

Hi guys

I have had experiance tap feeding with retics.

Everytime I wanted to feed my retic (Advice from BV) I tapped on the glass before I opened the cage to feed her.
When I wanted to handle her I used a hook stick to take her out and I never had a problem with her ever. She never striked at me or bit me or never tried to eat me:-)
After a few weeks as I started to tap the glass she automatically became aware and ready for her food.

So question is has anyone tried this with false water cobras. I have an adult pair that I recently accquired and they are determined to eat me.
I have kept false water cobras before and love their feeding responce and always accepted them trying to kill me but thought it might be nice to handle them more often.

Thanks
Clive

It could work. The retics are easier to teach than many other snakes. I cannot think that a FWC is very difficult to teach as they seem to be fairly clever as well.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.

Thanks BV

I will give it a try and post some feed back in a few months.

Pavlov's dog.... Try ringing a bell and watch them drool

Classical conditioning at its best!
2:2 Pseudaspis cana
1:2 Dasypeltis scabra

And yes they are all on permit.
