Forum software upgrade and Classified problems.

Postby Pythonodipsas » Tue Aug 05, 2014 6:25 pm

Hi Everybody,

The classifeds section have been giving trouble lately. The classifieds software is an 'add-on' modification (MOD) does not come standard with the phpBB forum software and the website of the original developer (of the MOD) is down.

I will try restore the classifieds but it may take a while so please be patient.

In the meantime I have updated the core phpBB software.

Regards,

Craig

I figured as much when I logged in after a few days and there were '0 new ads'.

I am working on fixing the classifieds this morning so the board may not work at times.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Ok I managed to get the classified displaying on the index page and mostly working ok.

But there are still issues. There is a redirection problem after creating or editing an advert. After creating or editing an advert, the page goes blank BUT your advert HAS been posted so DO NOT REFRESH otherwise your advert will post twice. Just click the back button and then the classifieds link to see your advert.

There are other problems with categories and I will work on this too. Just need some time as I have other urgent projects..

This might be the wrong section, if so my apologies. Just wanted to know if it is still possible to edit your post after posting? If I remember correctly there used to be a EDIT link close to the REPORT, and "QUOTE links.

Hi reptile,

You are able to edit your post ONLY for the first 10 minutes after posting. This is enough time to cover you should you find an obvious spelling, or other mistake. After 10 minutes it is disabled.

There was a topic regarding editing posts here: EDIT OR DELETE POSTINGS

In a nutshell BV put it perfectly:

Bushviper wrote:Deleting and editing topics is not a viable option because people write stuff and then if this causes an argument they go back and edit it to make the other person look silly or cast them in a bad light. The same applies to deleting posts. In the past people have thrown their toys and then go in and delete all their contributions which then makes threads illogical and difficult to follow.

If you have a problem with something that you have said you can contact a moderator to edit it or in certain cases where it does not cause the problems listed above we will delete it for you.

HTH

Craig

Hi Pythonodipsas,

I've had a problem with the classifieds section, apologies if this problem has already been noted, just want to make sure someone knows about it. It seems I can only view the first 10 ads on a page, attempting to click on anything past the first 10 ads results in the reloading/refreshing of the classifieds section. Don't know if it's just me, or if anyone else has the same issue?

Regards
James
