Hey all

Is their a market still in South Africa for venom?
I mean, does people still make money out of it?

I'm not sure what kind of a question this is.

There are facilities that milk snakes for venom in South Africa. The venom is then injected into horses to create antivenom.

There is always a need for antivenom but you will never make a lot of money off milking snakes.

Its a high risk occupation with no room for mistakes, the people that run these facilities are not rich nor do they make a killing off it.

I think the market is currently flooded with most types of venoms. I dont think you could make a living out of this though.

They are even working on synthetically producing antivenom in some parts of the world. Not sure about here in SA.
