rehousing stress?

rehousing stress?

Postby chandrebarnard » Thu Apr 12, 2012 8:33 pm

Hi guys
I recently moved my leo gecko from a wooden enclosure to an glass aquarium.
He now doesn't want to eat, if I throw a meal worm in he will strike at it a few times
With his mouth closed and after about three attempts he loses interest.
I'm just a bit worried, is this just stress of moving or could it be something else?
Thanx guys

Well he will be stressed because he feels he can be attacked from all sides now. Secondly he is probably colder and is getting ready to hibernate. Rather move him back into a cage which has better insulation and that he is used to.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

That does happen with leopard geckos, with my leopard gecko even if I put a new hide or decor he will inspect it and will not eat that day or two.
Thats just my experince with leos.

Thanx guys
He started eating again last night.
But I'll try and get him back in a wooden box,or at least insulate the
Glass tank.

Try not to move him around to much when it comes to cages and contents, he will be fine in the glass tank just be sure that the temp and humidity is correct.
