You'd be surprised! Chameleons can handle water surprising well they blow up and become quite buoyant and are able to make it to land or a form of cover.

An incredible thread full of great Photos and very interesting details.
That C.resimus is absolutely spectacular. I imagine they would be fairly easy to breed, hopefully you manage to pair yours up.
I would be curious to see what the juveniles look like. Prehaps similar to some of the Atheris species and starting very dark as juveniles?
Keep us posted.

Thanks Amphibian for the kind comments, it would definitely be incredible if I could breed this species but unfortunately my days are counted here in Rwanda. I don't think I will have time ...

Anyway I had some good time in lake Muhazi and finally got some close up of the spotted necked otter. There are a few of them living close by my plot there but as they are so shy I never managed to get close to them although yesterday with lots of patience I sat for a couple of hours waiting for them to come back home and I managed to get some shots at a relative fair distance but still not what I wanted. I was starting to get pissed off looking at my shots on the camera when I suddenly realized there was something right under my feet. And there I was sitting with my camera on my laps and a beautiful otter at less than a couple of meter in front of me. I didn't wait half of a second to catch that amazing moment. I was so happy this little creature are just so cute... Here are the pictures of the otter and a few other finds of the week end.

Sorry there are no "scales" on this threat but a few new finds (herps wise) are coming on the next one, just to give you an idea: (new picture of my C.resimus after shedding! red phase of natriciteres olivacea, Adolfus jacksonii ... But that will be for tonight or tomorrow)

Hope you enjoy.

That night adder is beautiful. The A. jacksoni kinda reminds me of our xantusia species. :D

No, defiantly not getting bored of all the pics!
Keep them coming.
This is one of my favourite posts at the moment and I’m also a keen birder so I enjoyed those shots almost as much as the herps.

That night adder of yours is absolutely breath taking, and your photos are top notch.
I like that last shot of the bronze sunbird.
Thanks for sharing.

Some great finds and beautiful photos Kenny. Seems like your patience paid off with the otters. I love the pics of the Green night adder, I have always wanted to find one myself. Do you have any full body pics of the red phase Natriciteres, I would like to compare with the ones I find here in Angola? That monitor look a lot like V. ornatus just from the part I can see but I don't think they occur in Rwanda?

Thank you for the king comment.

HH I can definitely take some today if you want and Ill upload them tonight.

Humm for the ornatus you got a point, they are not suppose to occur in Rwanda but no studies have been done around here and I wouldnt be surprised if they do occur here although this one was found in savanna, aren't the Ornatus found in forest ? And this one has over 8 crossbar on its body and 16 on its tail so it can't be ornatus as they have way less stripes.

But to be honest with you I'm still waiting to find one as I'm sure they occur here in rwanda.

Cheers.

That would be great if you can upload a full body pic of Natriciteres as well as a full body of the monitor if you have any. Yes, V. ornatus is normally associated with forests but are also common in palm savanna here in North Angola. The bright colours of this one reminded me of an Ornate but I don't think it is because V. ornatus usually have 4-5 rows of oceli between the shoulders and hips and V. niloticus has much more.
