co dominant traits in corns

Postby west » Mon Dec 03, 2007 11:04 am

hi guys

i dont keep corns myself, but i was curious what co-dominant traits exist with the normal corn snake?

example, what can be paired up with a normal corn and theoreticaaly get half of the offspring from each parent?

Thanx

As far as I know, there are no Co-dominant traits along Cornsnakes.
Kept and breed corns for a copule of years (1999 to 2003) and had over 200 heads and almost every pattern and color.
Any one else with some other information.

There are some co dominant traits...

Motley and stripe is one, though it's not truely codominant as motley will be more prevalent. A motley corn crossed with a stripe corn will give you motleyxstripe babies. Though some may appear to just be plain motleys...lol

The only other one I can think of right this very second is Ultra and amelanism...if you cross an Ultra with an amel, 100% of the babies will be ultramels...though it is suspected that Ultra is a hybrid gene so this is not fully understood as yet...the debate rages on! lol

There are a few forms of Hypomelanism..

Hypo A - which is the traditional, common hypo..
Ultra is a form of hypomelanism, "Christmas" hypo is thought to be another...I am sure there are more but my mind is flat this afternoon! lol

Normal is dominant to everything in corn snakes. :)
