The waiting game

The waiting game

Postby AndrewBobDrew » Wed Nov 16, 2005 8:31 pm

My first corn was never sexed so I never knew for sure what it was so after much intense research, scale counting and hoping that it was a female I put my male in and wadda you know they were at it. Well I think anyway.

I tried a further two times but both times the little male seemed so scared that it could not get out of the cage quick enough.

Doubts now to whether this is and still doubts loom. The events as follows:

1. Copulation (I think) 15/10/05
2.Ate 21/10/05 and refused ever since
3.shed 10/11/05
4. nest box which it is continuously in and out of never keeping still for a second.

Seems like normal behaviour for a gravid female so I expect eggs bout Sunday. Will wait n see.

One last thing is the male. I bought the two other corns as a pair(does not include the gravid female). Their parents were a ghost motley and a striped snow corn. What are they then and what will their babies be? I know its gonna be a colorful clutch

Wow. What a mix. Are these two related?

You could get anything, but if I used the punnet square correctly, this is what you would get.

All hatchlings striped motley,
25% Snow, 25% Albino, 25% Ghost, 25% Silver.

Talk about getting technical Pinky!! lol I obviously have no idea. You're gonna get a box of smarties!! hee hee

If I had to venture a guess I would think it'll be motleys het snow and stripe, or striped motleys het for snow.

Good luck, and let us know.

Do you have calcium powder? Mix some up with soem water, and try get her to drink it out of her own. If she doesn't want to drink, you will need to tube her. Whatever you do, DO NOT use liquid calcium!! Leave her for 24 hours and see if she lays.

You can open her mouth with the plastic part of an earbud, then just give her a bit of calcium powder and then take a syringe and wet the calcium, she will probably drink water afterwards, but if she doesn't, her saliva will do the rest.

took her to the vet and he said if there is no improvement by thurs then he will suck outh the contents of the egg.

One other thing if there is a dimple on like one egg is that fine and a tiny bit of green stuff on another?

My taiwanese is laying eggs! Looks like 8... I'll check on her again later. Once again she didn't look gravid, but I put a nesting box in there anyway. She ate her last rabbit last week Sat.

Sorry... Had to share

Nice one Pinky. Hope all goes well as these are notorious for getting egg bound.

I take it it was a small bunny otherwise you must have a huge ratsnake.
