Beautiful snakes. Do you know the history of your female (mar 1 2012 post) gray banded king? Is it possible it's a cross/hybrid? Lively colors!

I agree Mark that last Gray Band posted has a different look to it. Very colorful though....

I actually spoke to a few people to try and trace the history of the snake. I contacted the owners of this website who brought her down form Johannesburg to the Durban Expo. They could not tell me anything about her. Her colours are exquisite and I hope she was not the result of a hybrid project. Just looks like a really pretty alterna to me. Wish I could see the parents though. She is growing fast and has two shades me grey to her. I'm still in awe of this little snake... Wish I did know more though.

I'm saddened to hear this. What about her makes her look like a cross between these two species? Do you have any pictures of similar ones you've seen?

I've also seen Pyromelana X Alterna with that look.
I've also seen Ruthveni X Alterna with that look.

Here's some Ruthveni X Alterna I had many, many years ago:

And some Pyro X Greeri X Thayeri:

All interesting animals but I can't have them in my collection now or I will be accused of not having untained/uncompromised lineages.

also if you look at your very first photo, the nice gray band, you will note that there are what can be described more as "saddles" that round off at the ventrals, rather than the much more "banded" look as in milksnakes or other species like pyromelana...the black in the grayband is most often surrounded by a thin white ring as well.....not so in the other one....
