My new Pueblan Milk Snake

Hi all,

Just a quick picture of my new Pueblan Milk Snake, I picked it up on Saturday. I think it’s rather pretty! It’s a little bit nervous but I’m sure will settle in. Completely different temperament to the Ball Python and Corn Snake I have - all the snakes are have their own cages 

If you guys have any tips on Pueblan Milk Snakes that would be great.

I have an Apricot Pueblan Female and she is a real gentle girl. She is 2 years old now and I will be breeding with her next year if I can find a normal male!

@->@ndy - Thx I've always wanted a Milk Snake and very glad I finally have one I think the Pueblans are one of the best looking types. I haven't checked the sex on mine, if it turns out to be a male then maybe we can see whats possible on the breeding front. My milk is about 70cm in lenght at the moment.

How big is yours at the 2 year mark?

My Girl is just over 70cm now, she was brumated over both winters, she is smaller than her siblings but has the same feeding schedule.

Sounds like a good plan It had it's first meal last night. Still very nervous...it would not take food from my tongs and I ended up leaving the food near one of it's hides and that did the trick. Everytime I handle it I get musked big time like running down my hands and arm.....which I hope will settle as time goes on

I'm getting 3 milks soon myself. 2 hondus and a pueblan and I can't wait..

Mine is relaxed and i have not been musked on by her before, your snake is still new, give it a couple of days to calm down and settle in, don't handle him/her for a few days so the snake can get used to its new home, after its settled you can handle him/her every day if you like, the more you handle him/her the quicker he/she will calm down. It worked for me.

Mine only takes food if its placed close to the hide, and left there, they are shy snakes and will probably not take food from the tongs.

Cool, so it seems normal not eating from the tongs. While the food gets digested I'll leave her alone for 3-4 days like I do with my other snakes.

Her parents are both Apricot Pueblan's but I want to breed her to a Normal Pueblan. Let me know when you had your snake sexed, I would love to pair my Apricot with yours!

I love the White bands and the very wide Red bands on yours!

@ndy, ja as soon as it becomes a bit calmer I'll have it sexed. I think both our snakes are similar in size. What size food is your one taking and does your accept food with any hair on it or only pinkies?

My girl takes large fuzzy or hoppers no problems with hair
