That Time Of The Year

That Time Of The Year

Postby rolandslf » Mon Oct 20, 2014 10:28 am

Good Day All, I decided to pair up two pairs of King Snakes yesterday.
Both pairs locked for periods in excess of 3 hours, although I did not take note of exact times.
Here are some pics, but please accept my apologies, the phone flash totally washed out the pics.
I will try to get better pics next weekend when I put them together again.

Congrats Roland.

We often forget how beautiful just plain, normal Cali Kings are!

Thank You All for the comments.

Interestingly enough, last year I tried this normal striped male with a normal striped female and got a nil result.
The previous season he had been paired with the abberant albino female and they had a perfectly fertile clutch.
Last year I paired an albino striped male with the abberant albino female and had a nil result.
So I have paired the normal striped male and abberant albino female again this year, which should prove my albino striped to be non fertile and my normal striped female to be non ovulatory.

The pair of normal Calkings were paired last year, but produced a non fertile clutch.

We shall see what happens this season.

Those normals look like desert phase cal kings to me, might be completely off point..

I have always thought them to be either Desert Phase or eastern Chain.

The same two pairs of King Snakes had successful second locks over the passed weekend.
I find it interesting that Corns will lock for 30 to 60 minutes and then they part, but Kings will lock for anywhere between 4 and 12 hours at a time.

I am putting in a very poor quality pic of that well known King Snake Love Bite. The pic is taken with my Mobile and I also did not want to disturb them too much.
