Boa id needed

Postby SerpentS » Sat Apr 14, 2012 12:14 pm

Hello every one

I have recently bought a Rtb that may or may not have potential.

So any input or thoughts would be appreciated.

Mmmm... May be a hybrid? Red Tails are usually blood red and not brown, nice snake though.

Hi,

No, it's not a hubrid. It looks like the hypo Boas which have been going around. It's got very little black.

The pictures are also rather dark, any chance for better photos?

This snake is dark and very red. If you can cross this into an albino this would be how coral albinos are created. Very red boas with no black pigment will show up nicely. It is a line bred trait and not a recessive gene.

I would say a definite to it being a hypo. Where did you get it and how much and how old. I am very interested to hear and compare it to mine. Mine on the other hand is much lighter in color and does not show as much black as yours does. A very pretty snake and nice to breed with and to have in your collection

@ brandon gartrell20

I got him at the Jhb expo for R350 and thought it might be worth having in my collection.
I also have a very light female yearling for him so in 3 years they will be used in a breeding project to see if I get some nice babies from them

He is still a hatchling and growing like a monster and really pleased with him (Can't keep my eyes of him)

That's an awesom price. I got mine for R800 at the durban winter expo. I would like to breed mine with an albino. I am thinking of buying one at the coming up expo while mine is still a baby. It will be cheaper in the long run to buy one now rather than in a few years where the price would increase due to the age of it. What other reptiles do you own

If it has pastel and is also hypo it would look a bit more like this.

Hypo would also have a more orange tail. Hypos and salmons do not have black flecks in them. If you added these hypo/salmon genes to this snake it could possibly also come out nicely.

SerpentS I have a bunch of yearlings like this for sale for R3500 each. They are feeding on medium rats already.

That is a nice Boa with a lot of potential :), I also thought it was a hybrid but looks like Bv is right.
