Albino burm help pls

Postby jhbhc » Sun Jan 10, 2010 11:48 pm

Hi guys i'm new to albino snakes and have not owned them in the past. I would like to kno if it is safe to take these animals out into the sun or should it never be done? Also would infrared lighting be safe to use in the tanks? Thanks in advance for all ur replies.

Albino animals do not have melanin to protect them so rather dont take them into the sun and never put a UV light in their cage. I am still not sure how albino lizards who need sunlight (like iguanas) survive.

Thanks bushviper will keep that in mind. I use under tank heating pads and infrared heat lamps depending on the temperature but i'm sure that sort of lighting would be fine for them?

Lights as a heat source are not a good idea. They dry the air and provide the potential for burns. Rather put more heat pads under-floor.
