Well, i'm sure everyone here will agree this is a very mysterious injury and i don't think it was caused by the other ball python - it's just not logical considering all the evidence you've given us.

Something happened to this poor guy and if it wasn't you and it wasn't your wife, it wasn't the other BP then there is only one other place to look. Where you got it. And if you don't want to do that then the only other thing to do now is take him to the vet and pay the bills and get him healed and healthy.

Ball's are very resilient my 3 year old female broke her bottom jaw bone while feeding when she was about 8 months old
she stopped eating for about 8 weeks and she healed perfectly she is now about 1.4Kg and feeding well.

We have two carpet pythons that are twins with birth defects that resemble what you are explaining. It was most likely caused by them being coiled together in their egg during their development. I would not worry about it too much if the snake eats.

I agree with BV - From what you have said I do not think that this injury took place at your home - I also think that this injury took place before you purchased this BP - Maybe in all your excitement at the shop you did not notice the broken ribs !

But it seems that BV might possibly have more info for you regarding this issue , I suggest that you PM BV the name of the shop so that you can get more clarity regarding what happened to your BP .

Like I said, I'm not going to mention any names and I have explained that to BV and he understands. What is important now is the well being of the snake and what my options are, which I am busy discussing with BV. Fact is, I will never know what really happened to the snake, all I can hope for is that it will live a normal life.

What a cool guy.
Perfect example of taking responsibility for your actions.
Have some problems with what he decided to purchased, but he takes responsibility of caring for the animal as if it was his child and 'Klaar'.
many people would have taken the animal back or would not hesitate to take the animal back.
Piera. You are a good person and a absolute great reptile owner.
Good luck with your BP. I don't know much about BP but if it's moving and eating great. Then I suppose it has already healed. Ask the Dr. to check if it bothers the BP AT ALL.

I don't know off hand but he won't rip you off... I lost a young iguana he was treating and he ordered and autopsy at his expense to find out what was wrong when it didn't respond to treatment. He is very reasonable... give them a call and they'll tell you...
