1st Ball python hatchlings 2014

Good day all,

Just wanted to share the results of our first Python regius breeding in Bela-Bela.

The 1st clutch of 6 eggs was from a Pastel het pied X Spider

What a good feeling to get exactly what you where hoping for in the 1st egg, A beautiful little Bumble bee!

Image
We were very pleased to get 3 Bumble bees; 2 Pastels and 1 pos het Pied with markers.

Bumble bee hatchling. This is the combo which first caught my eye and got me interested in Ball python mutations!

Image
The 2nd clutch of 4 eggs was from an Enchi X Mojave pairing
Image
Again the first egg cut looked like the combo I was shooting for, the Mochi!
Image
A Mojave male was the 1st out.
Image
Sadly this is how I discovered the Mochi combo the next day.

As you can see here this snakes mandible was deformed.

It was a real shame to loose this beautiful combo python
Image
I am pleased the rest of the clutch mates are perfect and we ended up with a Mojave boy and two Enchi girls!

I will post some more pics once they have shed and looking their best!

Cheers
Warren

It is a shame about the Mochi but at least you got a awesome ratio with the Bumble bees. Well done :)

That deformity was bad! Sorry to hear about it. Oh well there is always another year. Good odds on most of the eggs though. I would not be disappointed if I was you.

Sorry about the loss, but an otherwise lovely result.

Congratulations on your clutches. Some really good odds. Condolences on the Mochi. Never lekker to have the little guys not pull through or hatch with deformities. Try again next season, I am sure you'll get it.

Thanks everyone. I am very happy with the odds, getting only 1 normal pos het pied out of 10 eggs. Can't wait till next season when more girls will be ready to go!
