Gaboon viper fang walking a mouse down!

Took these happy snaps the other day while feeding my Gaboon viper a mouse. I always enjoy watching how they use those huge fangs to maneuver prey down!

Wow.
Thank heavens I'm not a mouse...

Nice specimen..although I have not yet taken the step up to keeping one of these lovely animals I have been following all the info and stuff on them on SA Reptiles, but I have a question, I have seen on almost all the pic`s of the Gaboons feeding that they seem to swallow the prey butt first, is it the way they feed or just that the prey was not that big, so it didn`t really matter which way it is swallowed? :smt017

The only real way most are swallowed head first as the arms and legs fold in against the body and make it easier to for snake to the mouse.

These large adders have wide heads which allow them to get much larger prey down and often i have seen my gabby swallow a mice mid body as the legs and head will fold forming a mouse ball almost.
