Do you really need a incubator for snakes?

Postby Long John Silver » Wed Oct 31, 2007 7:46 am

The question we should really be asking ourselves is:" Do you really need an incubator for snakes?"

Enough about grammar lets get back to the topic.

I agree, this donkey has been flogged to death.

Who wants a dead donkey? Nice crocodile food.

Okay if you can post it I would accept it.

Do you have crocs at the park?

How do you like your croc, steaks or cubes?

We have a massive male called Barry. The smaller enclosure is ready for a shipment of small crocs.

Swazi are the small crocs on their way in or out?

Get Barry a mate. They are less grumpy then.

Ok well back to the second question. Which incubator is better, one that was bought or one that is made?

Well I'm incubating in a homemade incubator and it seems to be working fine. I also know that quite a few breeders use converted fridges or similar apparatus to incubate their eggs.

Hope it help and that my grammar was ok-ish

Gbrown. There are a number of incubators that you buy but they work out very expensive.

If you make your own incubator then you know what size you can accommodate and how well it works. If you do the electrical stuff yourself then you can fix it if anything goes wrong or you want to check on settings.

There are numerous designs for home made incubators and you must decide which one will work for you.

Converted fridges, polyboxes, aquariums and modified tubs can all work.

Make sure you have a reliable heat source (preferably two) a reliable thermostat (preferably two) and good insulation combined with decent humidity and ventilation.

A sealed incubator also ensures that you do not get carrion flies introducing maggots onto your eggs.
