EDIT OR DELETE POSTINGS

Postby BEARDIE&BOX » Tue Mar 17, 2009 11:47 am

Hi, is there anyway one can edit or delete a topic that was posted incorrectly?

Shouldn't users have the means to do this ourselves?

Deleting and editing topics is not a viable option because people write stuff and then if this causes an argument they go back and edit it to make the other person look silly or cast them in a bad light. The same applies to deleting posts. In the past people have thrown their toys and then go in and delete all their contributions which then makes threads illogical and difficult to follow.

If you have a problem with something that you have said you can contact a moderator to edit it or in certain cases where it does not cause the problems listed above we will delete it for you.

Thx for the explanation, it makes perfect sense! I asked the question in order to edit my ad regarding the cages, forgot to mention the price and wanted to prevent a double posting by placing the same ad twice. Will make sure in future to actually read my posting before hitting the "submit" button...lol

There was a short time back, a button "edit" with which a user could select and edit a recent post within a short time frame... Is this no longer an available option?

Hi Bushviper,

I intended to contact one of your members,Serpy by PM and have recently seen that I actually posted in an open topic,http://www.sareptiles.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=13820&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=30#p115114 .

There is nothing wrong with my post as such its just a little embarassing the manner in which I aproached Serpy being on public display. Is there any way I can have it removed?

Many thanks,
Steve
