Hello Marc,

In my intro thread they said that Copperheads would be dangerous (which I believe, if one gets bitten). But are they difficult to keep?
What are your experiences?

Hey there,
no they are very easy to keep as adults but babies can be tricky to get them feeding consistantly. They do have a very big feeding response when the cage is opened. Heating pad, water bowl and a dark hide and they are happy.

I had a small problem with shedding a while back, the humidity level was on 55 - 60 %, but i started to mist them slightly every time they were in the blue, that helped, over all maintanance exept that mist is a joy to do, when it comes to accepting food,a shelter is a must have
glad to see I'm not the only one in SA that still love them.
as long as you keep quiet, no one will notice that your dumb

Thanks, some other members warned, obviously because they are venomous. But I think as long as some safety rules are applied, the risk should be low. Of course they are not actually pets as you can't take them on the hand like pythons or boas. So perhaps if we can discuss the precautions here.

i REALLY THINK YOUR SOUTHERN IS A BROAD BAND AS WELL JUST A LIGHT PHASE AND YOUR BROAD BANDS ARE FROM AROUND DELRIO FOR SURE THEY HAVE A STRONG PICTIGASTER INFLUENCE.Or your southern is from the intergrade range in south central Texas.Or those are a fine South African types witch are mixed up a bit.
