While you are at it, check if it has paired subcaudals or not.

Beautiful animal. Is this one WC or CB?. Ive heard many people say that they do not do well in captivity so what have your experiences with this species been like?
And God has Created every animal from water, of them are some creeping on their bellies, some walk on two legs, and some on four. God Creates what He wills, for sure God has Power over all things. (Noble Quran 24:45)

Hi Gaboon69. Yes it has pairs of subcaudals scales. There are in one line about 60 scales.

One of my favourite Philothamnus species.

Now look at belly (ventral) scales.
Are they keeled too?
If the belly scales are keeled then it would be a hoplogaster. [Branch].

What makes this case interesting is that it seems that the two sub-species' (P. n. n. and P. n. occidentalis) distrbutions seem to almost overlap in your area. The nominate form has keeled subcaudals. (Think I confused you earlier, hehe).

Get a spacious enclosure for it.
Good luck.

Your snake might take fish as well. Small tilapia or any other fresh water fish (not salt water fish).
