Black Headed Python madness

Postby Derek Roddy » Tue Nov 03, 2009 5:51 pm

Hello everyone...my name is Derek Roddy and I'm a BlackHeaded Python knucklehead from the US.
I was just visiting South Africa last week (I'm a professional musician...whatever that means! haha) and got wind of this site by a local member and mod here.
Just wanted to say hello and show off some of the BHPs in the collection.

I think I lost count at around 75. Haha.
I most likely have around 90 or so at the present time. Most of them I've bred myself.
I don't really sell a lot of them....I like to hang onto them...watch em' grow, etc....
There's no other snake like em'....IMO.

Cheers,
D.

Haha...yeah, that would be me.
I was just in Joberg...performing a drum clinic at the BassLine...downtown. I then... went to Cape Town for the same.
So Beautiful over there.
I'll be coming back....for sure. I had a GREAT time...and met some wonderful people.

Cheers,
D.

Wow, yes I heard about the clinic and should be attending, I can't actually believe i'm talking to the derek roddy. It's mind blowing, your speed around the kit and on the double pedal is unmatched. And you love snakes? I'm only 13 and love them as well as my drums:) my too best things in life.

Amazing!

I reckon you have probably got as many BHP's in your collection as there are in the whole of South Africa.. I'm green. But hey congrats on them and on breeding them, the more people there are breeding them the sooner I can buy one in SA without having to sell my grandaughter to slavery.. great snakes man.

Very nice! Please don't lose contact when you get back home. There are a few BHPs here, but not many. In fact, I think this may be the first year they are being bred here.
Those who have made no mistakes have learned nothing and can teach nothing.
The same is true of those who continue to make the same mistakes.

Yeah, I was wondering how many were floating around over there.
What would be to going rate for them?

Over here...they are coming down but, they aren't a very consistent breeder....from year to year. This keeps them up in price and low in numbers.
The pairs I do sell....are 3500US..... But, you can find average animals for less. Just depends on what you want to look at in your collection.

I sure do love em' and would keep em' even if they were 20 bucks. They have THE best personality of ANY Python or Boa (IMO). More like a monitor.
Just GREAT snakes to keep.

I'll post some more shots later....need to go clean... from being over there for a week! Haha.

Cheers,
D.

Wow, I really cannot understand that one person would have more than twice the amount of snakes in his own collection than what's in our whole country... Very very nice collection you have there, sir!!! Haha any albinos? :)
