Horned adder (Bitis caudalis) photos

Does anyone have any photos of Zimbabwe or Botswana Horned adders?

Whilst we are at it, any pics of Zimbabwean Berg adders (Bitis atropos)?

Hi Mr. Rob. I know Vogel & Dobiey's Venomous Snakes of Africa has a photo of a Botswana caudalis. There is an interesting story behind that specific population. Perhaps with Mike's permission I can send u the scanned image. I have seen Chimanimani atropos fotos I think. Will scratch in the archives.

I had a specimen (B. caudalis) from Zimbabwe and am sure I took photos of it. I will go look for it.

I've got photos of B.caudalis from Limpopo about 15km from the Pondrift border of Botswana, but they still look pretty much like the normal Limpopo variety. I'll post the photos when I get back home.

Short thick bodied snake with small horns above it eyes. You of all people should know that... :D

No they should be beige and blue or brown and blue :D
Where in Zimbabwe are you talking about? If the south then there are a few picks of the messina ones here on the forum :idea:

B.atropos is being revised, and it seems that the Zim ones are something different and also the Mpumalanga ones, which will probley be described as B.unicolor sometime soon. (The available name after Fitzsimons, 1959).

Yes. Other proposed describtions include B. montanus and B. atropos. I prefer the classic atropos :)
