That doesn't sound necessary why try over complicate things.

If you use a good substrate like mulch or something similar that holds moisture well together with under cage heating with a large water bowl placed directed above the heat source together with misting that will be fine.

Bare in mind once that half water section has been dedicated in it must be changed and fresh water added mush more time and effort that way.

Hey Antman,
It will look great but cleaning will be a problem.
I have a waterbowl on top of the heat mat and that keeps humidity around 80%
I dont mist my cage and they have never had a non complete shed. Mine drink from waterbowls.

My advice would be to keep it simple.

Are you using an exo terra type cage?

Only issue with glass is it doesn't retain the heat as well as wood would.

Hey maybe he just wants to have a nice cage :) . I say if you willing to put the time and effort into building it and cleaning it then why not. You're gonna have hassles with a heating pad on the tank though, glass has a tendacy to crack when hot unless you put a layer of polystyrene or cardboard and stick the heating pad onto that and not directly on the tank. There's still that chance of cracking though.

Never had issues with any glass cracking in any of my glass cages with heating pads fixed on the sides or back?
Perhaps if you use a 100watt :P

I have had 2 tanks crack from heating pads it happens haha. Take the 1 slidding glass off and then you can put something like mesh as a replacement?

My advice would be to use the same cage but don't do the half water/ half land thing. It simply makes for more work and an unhealthy environment. Bear in mind that the snakes will most certainly defaecate in the water which will necessitate a complete water change. Like JP says, I use a large water bowl but not over the heat pad. If you need to put it on the heat pad to increase humidity, give them a cool bowl as well.
Glass most certainly does crack from heat pads either when they are too hot or when water spills on the warm glass.
That cage will not last your Amazons long either, they will outgrow that in about 18 months.

If replacing the one side with mesh humidity would be lost.
I know that PG Glass cuts holes in glas for R7.50 per hole. Then just by those round airvents for R7-R8 and fit it in.
(That is what they charge in Paarl at least.)

I've also go a glass shop down the road form me that cut pieces/ holes for next to nothing. I use polystyrene to insulate my tanks and to be safe attache the heat pads to the polystyrene.
