Well, I noticed last night that the seller reposted an ad on Gumtree with the price dropped to R200. I figured that since a couple of days have passed and it was a new ad, if the snake was still available I would go for it.
I called the seller and he sounded like a very decent oke, and yes, the snake was still available. He offered to bring it into work (Westville) this morning for my collection. I have to say, WOW! Definitely a Southern as suggested by Roland, and definitely the biggest I've ever seen. There is no doubt in my mind that it can eat a chicken egg or two from Pick 'n Pay.
The snake looks in excellent condition and has obviously been well cared for. I ended up chatting to the seller for over an hour, what a nice chap! Turns out we actually have a lot in common, and the topics discussed ranged from snakes and other reptiles, to fishkeeping, to motorbikes and cars.
So it turned out to be a squeaky clean deal, and here is a pic for those who missed out:
This is a good day, I'm stoked!
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.
