Spent the weeked herping with Johnny, here's what we found:

Snakes:
Dasypeltis scabra, 2 Live, 1 DOR
Bitis gabonica 1 live
Lamprophis capensis 3 DOR
Dendroaspis angusticeps 1 DOR
Lycophidion capense 1 Live
Crotaphopeltis hotamboeia 1 Live
Philothamnus natalensis 1 DOR
Naja mossambica 1 Live
Mehelya capensis 1 Live
Amblyodipsas polylepis 1 DOR

Frogs:
Phrynomantis bifasciatus
Pyxicephalus adspersus

Best way to start the weekend, a live B. gabonica!

So jealous Dean, yas looks like you guys had an awesome trip great finds especially the Mehelya capensis and the Bitis gabonica :D

Wow, what a find.

I have tried for B.gabonica on the roads a few times, maybe one day.

Wow, I have always dreamed of finding either a gabby or a file snake! I never imagined finding both on one trip. Congrats!

Both the gaboon & filesnake was female. It still feels a little unreal that we found all these amazing snakes! Thanks guys.

Congrats on a successful trip. Seeing a wild Gaboon is something I've wanted to do for years.

The Bullfrog is P. edulus if I'm not mistaken.

Ah, so it's still safe to cruise that road then?

Was this after rain?
My record was five young gaboons in one night on that road. But that was in 1982. If its the same road of course.
