Need help identifying this snake.

Postby janniekotze » Wed Nov 23, 2011 10:44 am

Hi everyone,

I found this snake in my kombuis this morning and was wondering what it is.

I live in Bloemfontein if it might help.

Thanx!

Hi Jannie

That is a Rhombic Egg-eater.

They are harmless snakes and actually quite nice to have in your garden or around the house.

Hi Wes,

Thank you for your quick reply, now my wife can relax as it's not dangerous.

Thanx again!

They put up quite an impressive display when threatened so people often kill them thinking they are dangerous.

They don't even have teeth and pose no threat whatsoever.

Its also too small to eat the eggs in your fridge. Probably just dying of thirst and sourced water in your house.
