A few from Grahamstown

A few from Grahamstown

Postby flyjack » Fri Nov 25, 2011 10:32 am

These are just a few of the reptiles I've found around Grahamstown recently. Please correct any wrong IDs :) . I did also see the tail of a decent sized snake, but that was just as it dissapeared down its hole :(

Despite this being probably the most common lizard I see, I cant actually put my finger on an identification... Any help? Is it maybe a cape skink?

Agama atra male I think?

Gerrhosaurus flavigularis (yellow throated plated lizard) ? This thing was quick. As soon as I put him down on the rock for a photo he was gone! But dont worry I wasnt squashing him :)

Cape Skinks are usually very obese creatures, but it looks like one.
Great photos

All your IDs are fine, except for the skink.

The skink is Trachylepis varia, Variable Skink.

Thanx for sharing and pleas do add more pics when you get some.
