Salmon Boas

Good Morning

I thought I would post some pics (which some of you were waiting for) of my Salmon Boas which were born on the 9th of November. Most of them have had their first meal and will be fed again today. There are only 3 that have not eaten yet, but today sounds like a good day to start!

The pics on the blue background were taken outside one morning and the pics on the newspaper were taken at night using a flash, so some of the colours are washed out a bit. However, none of the photos do the snakes justice. They are actually pinker (more salmon)!





This one is a definite keeper!!

These I believe to be super Salmons.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm really chuffed with the babies.

I have chosen 4 keepers (so far). It is rather difficult to see which are the salmons and which are super salmons in some of them. Luckily percentage wise it's easier to tell, but it's easy to make a mistake.

I have a few booked already, but if there are some left, I'll be sure to take them along to the Durban Expo where they will be for sale.

Thanks Constrictor Girl. I've managed to confirm that there were 2 super salmons in this clutch, and I am very happy with them. Hopefully the weather will be better by Monday so that I can get some updated photos of them.

How can you confirm that it is a super salmon? From what I know you have to breed them to see if they are a true super. From what they look like they do seem like supers with all the colour

I also would like to know how do you "see" its a super salmon.

It would seem there is a method to see which are supers. Just like it is possible to see which are het albinos and which are jungles we suspect we can see which are super salmons. The markings are much thinner and the colour is a lot lighter. This is not a proven method yet but when they breed again we will know.

The only other way you can be sure is to breed a super salmon to a super salmon and this produces 100% super salmon babies.
