Breeding Skaapsteker

Hello.

My skaapsteker (Psammophylax rhobeatus) is gravid and I think I get in next two week eggs. Did anybody breed this species here in the forum?
What temperature the eggs need?
What air humidity they need?
How long I must wait if the babies comes out from eggs?

I have not bred them but was given some eggs. I put them in the incubator and incubated at the exact same temps etc. as for my Corn Snake eggs.
Incubation period was also the same as for my Corns and Brown House Snake eggs.

I fed the hatchlings on Gecko Parts for the first 6 months and I have now got 2 of them straight onto Mouse Pinkie Parts without any Scenting being done.

I have also bred them and the incubation period was a lot shorter than my corns at about 40 days after laying.
This was at a temperature of 28,5 C.
The babies were very small and they refused to go onto pinkies.
I had no access to their natural food(frogs and lizards) so I released them close to where the mother was caught.

I incubate at 30centigrade.
They will not take pinks at first.
I fed Gecko parts for 6 months and then starved them for 3 weeks.
I then took some pinks, defrosted them and cut them in half length wise.
2 of the babies ate, the others were given Gecko parts for 2 more feeds and have been starved for 2 weeks.
This coming weekend I will feed Pinks again.

30 degrees is a bit hot. They hatch without problems at 26 to 28 degrees.

Just for fun leave the female with the eggs and put all of them in the incubator. She wraps around them and gets aggressive if you try to take them away.

Naturally they young will feed on small skinks. Like snake eyed skinks,variable skinks as well as speckled skinks. I do however believe like fuscus they will take day old African pigmy mice as you have done with the fuscus or was it guttatus if I recall correctly?

Good luck with them the young are beautiful albeit tiny.

In the wild, does her proximity to the eggs aid to incubate them, or is she just defending them?

Viperhunter, excellent news congrats the hobby needs more like you working with and breeding these animals instead of getting poached specimens.

Now after about 5 weeks the small Skapies comes out from the eggs.

I feed them with parts from small baby mice. I do this in past and this is super. Small fish are good too. After some month they eat baby mouse self.

In European not much people have skaapsteker. But I think this snake is interessting for much peoples because you see the snake every time if the spot light is on. Not like all the Asian snakes were the most time are hidden. I have a very nice male and female were have much red spots and grey-blue spots. I have eggs from this in incubator. I hope from these eggs I get very nice babies. I will make picture if the babies comes out of eggs.

Much people say it is not easy to feed small skaapstekers and they eat only geckos. I get the parents from my skaapsteker als very small snakes and they eat after a little time ultra baby mouse
