I had my photos from this trip up on facebook & the forum for more then two weeks before I actually posted the video. Not once did anyone point my incorrect ID out to me, so I never realised my error. In any case I have replied the following to news24 regarding the article.
Hi my name is Dean and I filmed the video of the frog while on a trip to the Northern Cape. My primary aim was to photograph reptiles that occur in the area. Early one morning while walking on the dunes these frogs alerted me to their presence with their unusual defensive cry. I knelt down to photograph and filmed this behaviour in a frog that had already been squealing. I am by no means an expert on amphibians and I have corrected the Id on my video. No one knew about these frogs or the threats this species faces due to habitat loss and destruction, and in all likelihood very few people would have cared. Hopefully people the world over would now be happy to back these frogs in their plight because of my video...
Still. I wanted to share this video with you guys & it ended up being seen by millions & making it onto international TV networks. Not in my wildest dreams would I ever have imagined that & it's been great fun having this happen.
