Hi there all. A friend of mine had a big female corn snake for 5 days, there was nothing wrong with her and all of a sudden he found her lying dead with blood coming from the mouth. What do you think could have happened? Thanks

Hi Sand girl, there is some highly skilled folks around here that would be able to answer you question, but no one here is Sherlock Holmes, some more detail will be needed i.e:
cage conditions, handling, where was the snake bought from, how old was she ect. and a photo would not be out of place either. In other words give as much detail as possible or you will end up getting a general answer or worse none at all.

Usually blood out of the mouth means trauma of some sort. This could be a ruptured vein or artery or a physical injury. Without an autopsy any guess would be that ... just a guess.

I'm so sorry for your friend's loss! I agree with my colleagues though that we'd need a lot more data to help sort this out...and even then it might still require an necropsy.
