Snake Handling Gloves

Postby ruanlotter » Mon Jul 08, 2013 1:22 pm

Hi all,

My 5 year old boa is a bit angry and I am looking for some handling gloves. Any ideas where I can get some in Cape Town or would you suggest I get any normal garden gloves?

I am sure once I handle him a couple of times that he might get used to me and stop the biting :)

Thanks!

Sorry for laughing... But I have a 1 year old Albino Red Tail which I only use a hookstick on because she is the devil!
So I know where you are coming from. Not even when its in my hands does it stop striking it strikes at anything that moves.

Tell us more about the snake? Was it always as agro like this? Did it just all of a sudden become like this?
Something must have caused it then. Does the snake calm down when he is being handled or does he still bite?
Dont bite, strike!!!!

Dont keep it real, keep it EXOTIC!!!

HAHAH Thanks for the reply...

Well basically, he used to be calm, but I think the problem begun when I started to feed him in his living enclosure and not in his feeding tank... (my fault yep)... He calms down once you handle him, the problem is that you need to pick him up first and you might get a few sharp ones in the arm while doing so hahaha!!

So I am sure if I can get some gloves, I will be able to handle him more often - and he will start getting used to me again :)

Thanks!

Maybe go to the hardware store and get welding gloves?

You can also use thick rubber gloves that Builder warehouse and others sell for working with toxic chemicals. It tastes bad and the snakes soon give up biting the glove. They are usually red and black gloves.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
