Jamster I was thinking the exact same thing...
Nice boa but not so nice water bowl...
Give it something to soak in.

Very nice snake. Is that a pure Guyana Red-tail Boa?

In my experiences, if your temps and humidity are right the snake will just use the bowl to drink from, even if it's big enough for them to soak in. It looks in good condition so he must be doing something right.

Thanks,

Like I said above this is a temporary holding spot for this boa as I have just moved house and I am in the middle of building a massive cage, its 90% complete, Just need to get glass door hinges now and cut the glass to size and place substrate, branches etc and the boa can move in. :) I will post pics of what it looks like so far.

I am not 100% sure of its true BCC but it does have allot of the charactaristics of one, the red tail being the most prominent and the peaked saddles, not sure of the scale count as yet but other than that I am very happy with him. (At least I was told it was a male, I still need to get it sexed again as it was sent to me via courier).

That is a real looker! It does look very similar to a Guyana in my opinion.

I would put my money on possibly Guyana influence. I know its not easy to tell them apart. Where did you get this guy from?

I got him from Pure Venom at the South Coast when I went for a visit about 2 or 3 months ago, but unfortunately due to car problems I had to get him couriered to me. Saw him in one of the cages for customer display and asked if I could buy him, Its not very often in South Africa that you come accross a beauty like this.
