Mite problems

Over the last few years I have been having problems with mite explosions and have exhausted all possible extermination revenues with no avail..

I tried miticides, different substrate types, changing feeder foods etc etc and the list goes on.

Last week I rehoused all my arachnids.
Today I was spot checking all my arachnids and found mites floating in one of my Parabuthus transvaalicus.

I have not fed any of my scorpions since revamping them.
I used zoo med clay substrate/ zoo med sand. Both which I sterilized by freezing, using boiling water and drying out in the Sun.
The breeder I acquired the scorpions from has a bad reputation and I believe they were wild caught.

Beware of keeping anything wild caught near your collection. It will save you loads of cash.

Just some advice, check your facts and make 100 percent sure before you start throwing mud around.

As for the mites, you definitely doing something wrong, if you keep having the same issue that keeps reacquiring, then something is not right with how you keeping your arachnids.

Arachnids is board term, what exactly are you keeping?

This assures that wild collected specimens can and do contaminate captive bred specimens with both internal and external parasites.

Yes true, it can and does happen, this is the reason why you keep any new stock in Quarantine before introducing it into your general area.
You also check your stock for any tag alongs and of cause you rehouse them with new substrate and make sure they are clean.
Well that what I do, I will check the live stock before I buy it or I will send it back if I'm not happy with the condition but I only buy from people who I trust and know what they stand for.

T. blondi has nothing to do with your issue, unless you imported one or two then you know what went wrong .

I thought you were asking for help or advice as it seems you are having issues with mites a couple of years is a long time to have the same issue?

My mite problem started after keeping tarantulas mite free for 5 years.
At the 2012 sos expo I bought my first Parabuthus spp.
A month later my mite problem started.

I thought it was a humidity problem then a feeder food problem and even a substrate problem.

My Parabuthus scorpions water always dries in a few days so I never had the opportunity to suspect them up until 3 days ago.

Only 3 of my scorpions had mites.
All my Ts are still mite free

I only keep arachnids as a hobby and only attempted breeding once last year with my H. incei colony which was a success.
I love working with the following genera

Poecilotheria
Chilobrachys
Stromatopelma
Hapalopelma

I should not forget my most aggressive T.
A 2 year old 4cm G. rosea

I am going to start a you tube page when my facility has officially opened where frustrate breeders such as myself can weed out the scam artists freely with the freedom of speech act. So until then better do things the right way to keep a clean name

Do you flood the scorpions substrate or only give them a water source?
If you can post a picture of the enclosures of the 3 scorpions?

So what you're saying is the scorpions have had mite problems for a whole year and you only noticed it 3 days ago or it keeps coming back over a whole year with the same 3 scorpions?

Because of being an arid species I suspected my tropical tarantulas as the culprits.

I give my 4th instars a 2lt soda cap as a waterdish.
Before then I only add a few drops of water weekly which dries in 24 hours.
Their humidity is 45-55% on the surface and in their burrows 60%.
I am at work and am re locating tomorrow due to a armed robbery so will post pics next week

None of my earlier instar Parabuthus scorpions have a water dish.
