Yup, Glass does not keep the heat in. It's fine in summer, but in winter it can be a problem to keep your snakes warm enough. Then there's the matter of it breaks easily. If your humidity is too high it can also create other problems like belly rot and infections, if it's too low your snakes might not eat and will be shedding poorly. Ventilation is another aspect to keep in mind.

Well, if you use a mesh top for the tank, you will struggle to have high humidity. The points is that you can just throw a jug of water in there which you cant do with a wooden. As for heat I just use those clip on lamps from exo terra with a infra red lamp. Anyways wood is always better though I agree. A friend of mine had water dragons in wooden cage, what he done was built a glass base up until the rails and sealed the rest properly. I know your gabs dont need 90% humidity but I saw his wooden cage reach that without swelling, maybe you should give that a try, it wont be to pricey, maybe a 100 bucks.
