Snake won't eat

My Red Tail Boa, a 1.8m male, refuses lately to eat and I have no idea why since he was eating very well before. He would take at least 2 big rats per week.

I keep it in a cage in my office at work and I can watch him daily. It is extremely docile and has never given me the impression that I can be bitten. During the winter I had heater pads on in my cages and both my snakes were feeding right through the winter months. Since spring, this snake was looking less inclined to eat but still took some rats. It looked more and more restless and would rear up in its cage as if it was looking for a way to escape from the cage and become less interest in the food on offer.

About a month and a half ago, I lined the floor of its cage with artificial grass which can be purchased in meters from hardware shops and 2 weeks ago I installed airconditioners in my office. He has since burrowed itself underneath the artificial grass as if it wants to go into winter hibernation. I even thought that maybe it is because it has a natural instinct to be with a mate during the spring time and that it was the reason for going off from feeding.

Any suggestions?

How are your temps is there a hot area of about 30-32 degrees for him to bask.

The one side is still heated with a heater pad which I keep underneath the artificial grass to prevent it from burning him.
