Indigenous collection

Hey guys,

About two years ago I decided to go indigenous only. After a long wait I finally got my first Indigenous snakes.
My collection is still very small but it will grow, quickly

I got myself a male P. cana and male and female D. scabra

The mole is a monster with a big attitude problem but he is just being a typical mole snake. He is 5 years old
and Chartwell locality.
The two egg eaters is 6 months old and Kalkheuvel locality.

The pics I took is not that good (cellphone) but when It gets a bit warmer and they settle in a bit, I will post better pics.

Now just to pair them up. Very few people actually breed mole snakes. I wish more people would.

Thanks for looking, Kennyakagera, I have not fed him yet but according to the breeder he has a good feeding response.
Yes BV I would definitely get him a female but you know these snakes only come in males, hehe jokes aside if I get a female
should it be from the same locality?
The eggies is a pair, so with them I'm sorted.

I think more people would be interested in pure locality offspring, although its not always possible.

Very nice snakes man, I wouldn't mind getting a pair of Mole Snakes.

Try your best to get a female from the same general locality. It does not help you get one from Namibia, the Cape or Limpopo.

Both of them are feeding well, the little mole only takes geckos but I am trying to get her onto pinks.
The Snoutie is growing real fast, I just love her.

Nice collection. I also love snouted cobras. What are the permit requirements for keeping indigenous species? Does it differ from province to province?

Thanks guys, yes snouted cobras are my favorite, with puff adders a close second. Viper_SA, permit requirements do differ from province to province, basically in Gauteng you need to be an active member of a herp association, obtain a captive bred specimen that is on permit and after the association recommends it then you apply at NATCON and that's about all you need. If you search "permit" you will find a ton of info that can assist you.

Thanks for that. Will try and find out if hat person sill handles the permits. See the post was made in 2009
