Sorry to hear about your loss.
Often it is not the venom that does the killing in these types of situations, but rather the physical trauma of the fangs puncturing a vital organ.
Might the female's fang have punctured the male's brain or (more likely) its spine?
Did the male show any symptoms such as swelling, blistering or necrosis before/after death?
