Corn Snake Pricing

Corn Snake Pricing

Postby gekosin » Tue Mar 17, 2015 12:44 pm

Hi All,

I was recently having a discussion regarding the prices of certain morphs compared to others and the difference between a breeder price and shop price.

What are your opinions on the going price for the following morphs (all hatchlings)

Normal -
Anery -
Amel -
Snow -

I have some "spare" snakes and obviously don't want to break the market by going too low but also don't want to go way over the market price.

Thanks :)

It's all a matter of supply and demand. And recently the whole possibility of outlawing Corns will also influence the price.

I would thumbsuck:
Normal- R100
Anery- R150
Amel- R150
Snow- R200

Of course shops sell for more than that because they have to buy from breeders and still make a profit, but I would say those prices are fair. I have seen Normals go for anything from R50 to R200 so of course there is some margin for error, but I think those are fair averages.

Another factor is hets.
A normal would cost about R100.
The same normal if het for Amel, Anery and Motley for example could sell for R130 to R150.

I have for example Amel het for Anery and Motley going at R150, and Snow het for Motley also going at R150. You may ask why so cheap, look at the reason below.

Lastly, factor in how long you want to sit with the babies. It is sometimes better to get a slightly cheaper price and sit feeding them for 3 months, that asking more and sit feeding them for 6 months or longer.

I have mentioned my prices here just to illustrate, how pricing gets affected.

Hi all,

I am back with a pricing question. Needing to sell some of my snakes due to change in circumstances pretty sad to be doing this but don't have much of a choice.

Anery Corn +-7 years (het amel)
Anery Corn +-3.5 years
Amber Stripe Corn +- 2.5 years (does not like being handled, bought from Chantel)

Female

Normal Corn age unknown (het amel & anery)
High Bloodred Corn +-2.5 years (bought from Chantel)
Motley Gold Dust +- 1.5 years (bought from Chantel)

Unsexed

Snow +- 9 months
Amel +- 9 months

If you can offer some advice it would be a big help!

Thanks,

Let me try and answer this, my pricing for these would be posted from the point of view that I would want to sell them fairly quickly.
We also need to look at the factor of the Corn Snakes in question being High End, or fairly Run Of The Mill (Common) in the market.
Corn Snakes if not High End, are not fetching the pricing they should be.

Here is what I think you should price at.

The first 2 Anery Corns R500 - R600 each, most Corns nowadays are het for Amel.
The Amber Stripe R600 -R800, I reckon another 2 years or so and this snake will be handleable.
The Normal het Amel/Anery, if at least 1mtr. in length, R350 - R400.
The Bloodred R400 - R500.
The Motley Goldust R500 - R600.(Although young, I consider it to be leaning towards High End).

I know that there are many that may say my pricing is fairly cheap, but one has to look at the Species for sale as opposed to the Market requirements.
I would actually like others to post some pricing, I may be selling my own stuff too cheap.
