okay, so I know you're going to all say how unhealthy he is, we inherited this chap as is from a home where he was very loved and indulged...and yes, he's been on a diet!! But isn't he just the best natured big lizard around! Only hope that he will be around for awhile as we don't know how old he is...

Be careful about putting an animal like that on a diet. Feed him the same amount of food as before but just lower the nutritional value. Make him work for his food too. Give him small jumpy food items that he has to run around and catch. That will give him good muscle tone again too.

Oh and please post bigger pics because I would love to see what he looks like.

By the way if you want to get rid of him then ........

yes, we are trying to get him to exercise as well, and NO CHANCE that we are looking for a new home for him :) but you will all be able to come and see him when (one day) we open the reptile park down this way... :D

His markings are stunning, especially for that size.

He's gorgeous! Wish I had a nice big tame monitor like that. Monitors are my favourite out of all the lizard types. Maybe its because of their forked tongues that remind me of my first and greatest love - snakes ;). Hope you have him for a long long time.
