Last night we went on a road cruise around Kimberley and We found this on the road. This is the second one that I have seen, and the previous one was the 2nd specimen from Kimberley according to SARCA. Ill do the maths for you and say that this is the 3rd one.
Dad was sleeping and woken up by the usual "road cruising stop for snakes break."
At first glance we thought that it was a Lycophidion (wolf snake). Dad jumped out and took a closer look. He had a stair of uncertainty in his face and I knew it had to be something unusual! Him not grabbing it, made me think it was an Atractaspis , but then I realised what it is!
He grabbed it, me still in the car, trying to get safety belt of in a hurry and open the door, i finally got out and gave him a kiss on the cheek - We were chuffed
Have a look at the pics.
Our camera is packing up!
