Burm Eggs :-)

My female green burm dropped eggs around Friday. She laid 13 and i wasn't there to witness her laying them. As soon as i noticed the eggs were laid, which could only be about 12 hours earlier, i put them all in the incubator.
5 of the eggs she never coiled around and those five dont look too good. They are sort of dented and slightly discoloured. They haven't detiriated since i put them in the incubator, however they didnt look too good from the beginning.
Think there is any chance of the dented ones making it??? Basically if the eggs dont look perfect, can they still hatch or no way???

I would say stick them in the incubator and wait. You have nothing to loose if they do or don't hatch.

I have not seen, but have heard of it before.

The chances are that the eggs are infertile, and possibly that is also why the female did not coil around them. As I said, you are still going to incubate the good eggs, so just pop the other, not so good looking eggs in the incubator as well, and see what happens. You have nothing to loose by it.

If they start rotting or smelling, fine throw them out, but other than that, it is always interesting to see what happens.

Some ppl have had snakes hatch from eggs that look totally ruined. You should always just stick them in the incubator just incase. Good luck

Thanks for that info, so if they look funny you could still get a couple... GREAT NEWS because for me to loose 5 out of 13 without even starting would be NOT COOL...

By the way i can some dont smell too good, but its difficult to tell which of the 5 do. So ill just wait and see.

What are you going to do with the babies Gmoth? Any possibility of selling them? Wish you the best of luck with ur new eggs...and congrats...

I always incubate everything cause there are some real dodgey eggs that do make it...Blue green mold/spots is a sign that the embrio has died and then the egg can be tossed out... The contents als o go as hard as a hard boiled egg.. If you have a good clothes peg for your nose its useful to disect the egg...

You can tell by the size of the embrio at what stage of development it died...

Waxy texture as opposed to nice white powdery texture is usually a sign of an infertile egg but not always.

Having said that you may as well resign yourself to loosing those five eggs.... Mommies seem to know best and eggs that did not adhere to the cluch and aren't coiled by the mother rarily make it.
